You know you can’t miss this one:
We had so much fun celebrating our three year anniversary at Mothership Bar that we’ve decided to throw another party! We’re stoked to be featuring two of the most exciting DJ/producers in the Bay right now, Bored Lord and Baalti. Both have recently released incredible records showcasing their unique perspectives on dance music and are bringing heaps of (deserved) attention from across the world to the Bay.
See you next month ☺️

ATMOSPHERIC ETHEREAL
Vibes. Atmospheric, ethereal vibes. Sonically situated somewhere around 1985-1995, the self-titled debut EP by Still Ruins transports listeners directly to the fog machine synths and lavender bright lights of a time when many of us were just being born. Fans of Cocteau Twins, Depeche Mode, and Clan of Xymox will find much to love about the songwriting here, though this is not just a rehash of nostalgic sounds. Keen listeners will find this familiar to shoegaze outfit Welcome Strawberry, as Cyrus VandenBerghe leads both local Oakland bands. If you haven’t heard them, check out their latest EP Scared to Look.
You can pick up the cassette and vinyl from Smoking Room.

RAINBOW DISCO ROCK
“telling the story of a world on the continual precipice of enormous changes & deeper awakenings. […] our intention is for this release and all subsequent releases to be a part of the positive change of the world.”
Yes, yes, we’re not individuals separate and isolated from each other and the rest of the world, we’re actually all fundamentally united and connected to the oneness of the universe. We already knew all that, right? Maybe, but it never hurts to be shepherded back to that all-important truth, and here is your latest reminder: Color TV, the full-length debut by SF psych rock band Analog Dog. Described by the band as an “act of love,” the album largely sways to soft rock sounds, infused here and there with the soothing horns of soul jazz and the infectious grooves of radio disco. It may seem odd to release an ideal summertime soundtrack in the middle of winter, but then, you do need rain to make rainbows.
