Forget Spotify Wrapped: Support the artists you love by buying music
Bandcamp Friday selections by Rose Cherami, Sarchasm, Rose Haze, RAVEN, Michael James Tapscott, Feedbag, Cold Medina, Bored Lord x bastiengoat, and Baalti
I get it. I obviously love music, and love sharing my love of music with my friends. That—plus the cute, colorful designs—is what makes Spotify Wrapped so fun. But it’s also important to remember that the big streaming sites pay out pennies to most artists. Unless you’re at the Taylor Swift or Drake level, artists are not making anything close to a living with their payouts from these platforms.
So if you really want to support independent, local musicians, remember to pay them for their work. Today is still one of the best ways to do that because it’s Bandcamp Friday, meaning artists take home every cent you spend on the site (after payment processor fees). Scroll on for a few great releases you can buy to support local artists.
Peace,
ronny
