This Saturday, the SF Library’s music streaming platform Bay Beats announces its second yearly batch of new music, featuring more than 150 releases by local artists. Four of those artists—the Kathy Kallick Band, Howan, Peña and Grooblen—will be performing live at the Bay Beats Launch Party.
We’re proud to be partnering with the SF Library and Amoeba SF in presenting this special event, and our very own ronny ronny ronny will be on deck, spinning Bay Area music throughout the day.

GROOBLEN: “My big hope is that San Francisco becomes more affordable for, well, everybody.”
Since early days hitting up the Honey Hive and raiding the Ortega branch library for graphic novels, Ellie Stokes has been seeking out music and art in SF for nearly two decades. Her band Grooblen’s second full-length album A Wormhole is a Freeway to the Stars was a cosmic rock-and-roller, and one of our favorite Bay Area albums of 2023.
PEÑA: “Having a view of the Ocean Beach horizon from my home studio is an endless inspiration.”
New Jersey-raised Nico Valenzuela has established himself and his band Peña as core to the current SF music community with close ties to Mild Universe, The Breathing Room, Sweet Lew, and Mae Powell. Created in collaboration with those and other artists, Peña’s 2024 full-length album para ti is a fanciful Latin pop rock jam tracing its lineage from Spain to SF—and it’s one of our favorite releases of the year.
